Today, with Gen-i, we set up the enterprise mobility AMS stand on Level 5 Reception of the Auckland Hospital.
Enterprise mobility on show at Auckland Hospital
Sometimes being on a Expo stand can be really hard work. Feet hurt, you hear yourself prattling on etc but today was different. It was because folk had heard we were coming to the hospital, at very short notice, and for most of the stand visitors … we were the chosen destination!
Many of you who have been on an Expo stand will know what that means and how rare it can be. Usually folk are looking for the technology device prizes, the mid afternoon chocolate fix or to replenish their annual supply of pens.
Consulting Users about mobile technology
Now to be frank, I’m not a great lover of hospitals but today was different. Clinician staff including surgeons, anesthetists, physiotherapists, nurses all came to see the enterprise mobility solutions that we had that would help them do their job better. I asked a clinician, what do you want technology to deliver for you?
In this case it was to rid their environment of hundreds of databases that didn’t talk to anything. Sometimes it’s not about the $25 million project that takes 5 years to complete. Sometimes it’s about a simple concept well executed, using the strengths that technology brings to the mix. And of course, asking the End Users what they actually need!
